For individuals who wish to take advantage of the beautiful grounds and orchard areas, camping is available with use of toilet and shower facilities in specific buildings. All camping events are also possible at certain times of the year, and event organisers can chose whether to run all sessions in marquees or to hire spaces such as Ruskin Hall. It is also possible for all camping events to have their own catering brought in, subject to compliance with our Health & Safety requirements and in accordance with the Food Hygiene regulations.

There are two camping areas – one by the Orchard close to the accommodation buildings Maple and Birch, for small numbers of people, this may be shared by individuals on different courses or attending different events, and the large camping field below the Rachel Carson building. This field is used for exclusive use events with large numbers of people camping, but also for marquees, yurts and tipis.

Campers need to bring all their own equipment including tent and bedding but all meals would be provided as part of the event unless specifically agreed with the event organiser.


Flip charts, paper and pens, projector and screen are available for events, but these need to be requested in advance and you would need to bring your own laptop. Use of the stage lights in Ruskin Hall is depending on our technician being available. Please enquire early. An additional charge applies for the time the technician will spend with you. Some of our classrooms have a piano which will get tuned once a year. If you require the piano tuned before your event we will arrange this for you and pass the charge onto you.

The college does not provide any other audio visual equipment such as sound systems, microphones, smart boards and so on. These can be hired in by you.


There is a wide range of rooms available to hire ranging in size from Ruskin Hall which can seats 200 people, to the Pixton meeting room for 8 people, depending on your requirements. 

We recommend that you visit the college sample the coffee, join us for lunch and take a walk around the gardens as well as looking at the spaces to help you decide how we could best host your event.

Art studios with access to water.

Ideal For: Painting, clay modelling.
