A Touching Experience of Deep Care

Friday, 04 June 2021 Sophia Smith describes her moving experience of receiving a Rhythmical Einreibung Treatment

I have just recieved my first ever Rhythmical Einreibung (RE) Treatment from Fiona Simm. Before recieving the treatment, I knew nothing at all about it, and didn’t even know how to pronounce it. I now am feeling so good after the first experience, I will try to put words to it.

Firstly I have to say it’s unlike anything I’ve ever experienced in terms of massage or touch. None of the trainings I’ve had in Swedish massage, aromatherapy massage, reflexology, or biodynamic massage comes close to it, although the latter has hints of it. Nor is it like Thai yoga massage or shiatsu, which I’ve experienced as a client. It’s because it’s not really about the actual concrete physical body as such: nor is it about hovering over parts of the body, like in methods of spiritual healing, reiki or chakra balancing.

What is the secret of this particular kind of touch?

Fiona’s slow tempo, touching different parts of my body in structured rhythmical ways, felt like gentle waves of a warm sea with tides gently lapping around my body, lying on a warm beach, waters swirling slowly and evenly and tenderly without being cloying.

FLUID is the one word to describe the rhythmical strokes, although sometimes there was like a subtle “plumping outwards”; also it felt like a kind of living sculpture-making (modelling, moulding), as if my body was being re-created, re-formed. In a hinted way, not through pressure, penetration into the tissues and muscles, petrissage.

In fact, the images I had were of early embryology!

As I imagine the creating of human physical structures as a result of fluid movements and the “gelling” into shapes…

To start off with, I was tucked into the couch-bed, first sitting up for my back to be known in this new way; then lying down, warm and cosy, and my arms, shoulders, chest and tummy each in turn revealed for the touch, then each in turn covered again, feeling warm and safe in my own space.

The effect was instantly dreamlike, soothing, almost hypnotic in its sedative effect.

The prescribed rest afterwards, for the same amount of time as the treatment, seemed at first exaggerated! However-it was a rich experience of relaxation, alertness, insight … and heightened sense of self- that higher self, not the little ego.

Getting up, I felt so much younger, more radiant, and found I was walking with a much lighter stride! More flexible, definitely more relaxed yet more focused. My posture also was more balanced, poised, both sides equally friendly to one another, as it were.

Clearly the method works with etheric forces, the formative forces that shape the world of plants and the human body. It is health giving and wholesome, and love in action.
