An Introduction to the World of Storytelling with Ashley Ramsden.
If you have ever wondered what it would be like to tell a traditional story, if you've ever thought "I could never remember all that", if you've ever struggled with speaking in front of an audience, then this could be just the course for you.
By the end of the weekend you'll have a traditional story under your belt, gained confidence in speaking in front of others and have learned some hot tips on how to tell a good story. You'll also have an experience of the four places storytellers find their stories: stories heard from someone else (the oral tradition), stories taken from a book or found on the net, stories drawn from your own life (autobiographical stories) and stories made up on the spur of the moment! (spontaneous storytelling).
All this will take place in a supportive atmosphere and a stunning setting with plenty of fun to allow you to unfold your own creativity and begin storytelling now!
The Begin it Now course is a perfect introduction to other storytelling courses offered at Emerson such as Next Steps or Applied Storytelling.
Ashley Ramsden is the founding director of the School of Storytelling, the longest established centre of its kind in the United Kingdom.
He has toured with his remarkable storytelling programmes on all five continents, has appeared at major storytelling festivals in the UK, South Africa, Scandinavia and America.
He is as much at home telling in the Sydney Opera House or alongside the London Symphony Orchestra as he is in your front room. Ashley’s unique methods of teaching voice and the skills of the storyteller have received international acclaim.
