WEEKEND WORKSHOP: 'Persephone’s Awakening - A Transformational Journey’

WEEKEND WORKSHOP: 'Persephone’s Awakening - A Transformational Journey’

A creative workshop using myth as an experiential means to self exploration with Isabella Florschutz (MA)

We will explore the Greek Myth of Persephone’s journey to the underworld and will discover its relevance for us today. We will explore themes and express images that arise from the myth through sharing, movement to music and art.

Myths and fairytales have helped guide and inspire human beings for millennia and contain words and images, which stir our imagination. Entering the world of myth we can discover its meanings on the spiritual, sociological, seasonal and psychological levels and how our own personal stories are reflected in the archetypal images. They can reconnect us to aspects of ourself and inspire our creativity. The Greek Myth of Persephone describes the journey of the individual towards maturity and Individuation. The transformation and maturation of male and female soul qualities can help us understand and balance the masculine and feminine aspects of ourselves. It describes the phases of life or aspects of a woman and represents a creative journey in nature.

We will explore the journey of the Greek Myth of Perspehone and her journey to the Underworld realm of Hades. We will discover the atmospheres and soul moods of this archetypal drama and its characters. The themes that touch our lives will be explored in an alive, vibrant experience. Together we will express freely and creatively through discussion, movement to music, and painting and drawing in various media, the images which emerge from the myth.
