One of the things we must learn in our time is to live out of pure trust,
Without any kind of security
Out of trust in the ever present help of the spiritual world.
Truly there is no other way today, if our courage is not to go under.
Out of the health of the human soul and out of desperate circumstances
The new Christ experience will evolve.
Trying outer circumstances will become inner soul trials,
And out of these soul trials vision will be born.

Emerson College was founded in 1962 by Francis Edmunds who was inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner. It responded, in the second half of the twentieth century, to the needs of the Zeitgeist at that time by providing adult education for people who sought a creative spiritual path for the future.
A new project is now developing on the site, which incorporates a range of other activities and initiatives in addition to Emerson College which has become known as Emerson Village in 2010. Since October 2010 this has become Emerson Trust. It is a response to the needs of humanity and the world in the early years of the twenty-first century as we struggle with the effects of materialism.
The new project incorporates a range of activities, courses, conferences and initiatives in a village setting and,
- is based on the principles of anthroposophy founded by Rudolf Steiner, and, as such, aims to support the development of the human soul in such a way that both reaches out to the spirit and lives firmly on the earth,
- aims to enter into the turbulence of our life and our epoch and, as a result of this, discover unknown strength within ourselves – our true individuality; to fully develop our humanity we need to participate in, meet and respond to the problems and sufferings of the world,
- will promote transformational learning and healing.
At the centre of the activities on the site are the courses run by Emerson College, and activities organised at Emerson Conference Centre, Emerson Research Centre and Emerson Therapy Centre, all of which are devoted to addressing the needs of our times.
The new project has a universal aim; namely, to engage in dialogue with people from a range of
backgrounds and beliefs, but who share our basic principles, and are also attempting to respond to
the Zeitgeist by providing healing for the world both nationally and internationally. We believe that
such dynamic interactions can only enhance rather than dilute our basic anthroposophical concept and vision.
