From Soil to Table

We are delighted to announce the launch of our new volunteer initiative

Our new initiative From Soil to Table is a further development of the volunteer programme: practical learning through working alongside a gardener and a chef with modules of theoretical learning.

The Operations team have been successfully running volunteer programmes for a number of years. We have learnt from our volunteers how interesting - and even life changing - it can be to work alongside a skilled gardener or a chef in the kitchen.

From Soil to Table - the garden

We have re-introduced a vegetable garden where we grow our own produce which is then used in the kitchen to create those healthy, incredible fresh meals full of taste and nutrients . Currently, a part-time gardener and volunteers are growing vegetables on the land between Linden and the camping field. We are talking with a very suitable person whom we hope to employ full-time from this autumn who is enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge with students. Our aim is to develop a three to six month practical learning experience for up to six students at a time.

From Soil to Table - the kitchen

From September we will be offering an ‘Introduction to the Art of Vegetarian Cooking’

A small number of students will be working alongside our chef and will gain practical and theoretical knowledge in vegetarian cooking, food hygiene, menu planning and anthroposophical nutrition. The course is suitable for anybody who would like to learn how to cook for larger numbers and is interested in Anthroposophical Nutrition.
