Facilities to hire

Emerson College is an ideal place for day meetings, retreats, festivals and courses in self-development, arts, movement, spirituality and land based themes. Our gardens (22 acres) invite your participants to go on walks to experience the wonder of nature in plants and trees. This creates a contemplative and safe environment which helps you to slow down and step out of your daily routine into a creative space.

Our facilities are simple, natural, with a lot of light; many sculptures by our students can be found in the grounds. We offer a campsite for up to 50 people, 50 single rooms and 9 twin rooms – all with shared toilets and showers. A big hall with a stage for up to 150 people, 4 classrooms, a space for movement, 2 art studios and communal spaces are also available. Free WIFI is available in designated areas. We have ample free parking.

For residential courses and retreats we offer accommodation with all meals which are freshly prepared every day in our kitchen. Our meals are vegetarian and we can also cater for gluten free, dairy free and vegan diets. We support agricultural practices that renew and sustain the soil rather than depleting it.  We are especially lucky to have a small biodynamic vegetable garden right on campus, providing us with fresh greens, lettuces, spinach, tomatoes, flowers and much more! Tablehurst farm – a community owned biodynamic farm – is just next door to us

We are open for weekend courses all year round as well as week-long courses during the Easter and Christmas holidays and from the end of June until mid-September. Minimum age for all our participants and guests is 18. Only an hour’s train journey from Central London and 30 minutes from Gatwick airport with easy access to the Ashdown Forest makes it easy for your participants to reach us.

If you would like to enrich your programme we are happy to connect you with our partners on campus for a storytelling performance, activities in sacred geometry, painting or pottery, organise a talk from our gardener, or offer a cooking or pizza making session.  Just let us know what you're looking for and we will design a package for you according to your requirements.
