WEEKEND WORKSHOP: Attending to each other: Enlivening the language between us

WEEKEND WORKSHOP: Attending to each other: Enlivening the language between us

Exploring modes and gestures of dialogue through practises in speaking, listening, interactive writing, movement and planetary masks with Margli and Paul Matthews.

Through guided tasks in speaking, listening, and interactive writing we will be exploring various modes of dialogue.  In con-vers-ation we ‘turn together’, and as we practise this (often in pairs and small groups) the question ‘who are you’ will be at the heart of our attention to each other.

Improvisation with planetary masks and movement exercises will make visible the essential gestures of dialogue and enhance and inspire the interplay of our words in the space between.

This weekend is open to anyone who wishes to develop their social skills and enrich their language in their personal and professional life. Therapists, teachers, social workers, parents, and all who recognize the importance of imaginative language in relationships will benefit from this workshop.

Margli Matthews is a biographical counsellor, supervisor and trainer with over 30 years’ experience in private practice and adult education.

Paul Matthews, poet and gymnast, has taught for many years at Emerson College in the U.K. His inspirational books on the creative process, Sing Me the Creation, and Words in Place  (Hawthorn Press) explore the relationship between word and world.    www.paulmatthewspoetry.co.uk
